Liliana Cerrillo, LMFT 93752
Hey there, my name is Liliana Cerrillo, but I go by Lily. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have been in the mental health field for almost 15 years. I identify as bicultural and bilingual provider – fluent in Spanish. My goal as a therapist is to enhance the quality of life of every individual by providing client-centered and culturally responsive counseling customized to their needs.
I obtained my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, with a Certificate in Latin American Family Therapy from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. Along with my education, I have a certificate in Geriatrics from the Academy of Professional Excellence at San Diego State University and have completed EMDR Therapy training.
Of all the theoretical approaches to choose from when it comes to therapy, I gravitate mostly to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus, Family Systems, EMDR, Strategic, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, as I see their practicality in helping various needs. I have worked with a wide range of clients providing individual, family, and couples counseling in non-profits to adults who may come from a marginalized background or unique populations such as survivors of abuse, severe mental illness, folks coming to terms with their later in life years, and individuals who may need support managing life or physical health stressor.
My communication style is a balance of assertiveness with a touch of reality. I consider it a privilege to work with someone who may need extra support, and in order to have a good therapeutic relationship we should feel comfortable working with one another; if for some reason during the course of your journey something comes up please do not hesitate to mention it.
I want to know what brought you here and where you want to go, your strengths and challenges, what has and has not worked. Together we can create a plan, or what I like to consider a toolbox of different methods you can not only use but feel comfortable using, to accomplish and manage your needs; whether they be to engage in healthier relationships with yourself and others, and/or navigate all the twists and turns that may come up.
I look forward to being your therapist.
